Family Constellations is a therapeutic approach developed by the German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger in the 1990’s. It explores and addresses deeply rooted dynamics within a family system that may unconsciously influence individual behaviors, emotions, and life challenges. The goal is to bring hidden patterns or unresolved family traumas to light and, ideally, find resolutions that promote healing for the individual and the system as a whole.
The ‘method’ of Family Constellations is used for issues like relationship difficulties, lack of self-confidence, anxiety, emotions, family conflicts, life struggles and even depression. Family Constellations offers a valuable framework for healing that complements more conventional therapeutic approaches. It diverges significantly from conventional forms of cognitive, behaviour and psychodynamic psychotherapy. The method has been described as an example of quantum mysticism because of the incorporation of morphic resonance as Hellinger explained it.
